ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT & SOCIAL ASSESSMENT  STUDY – Endorsement

Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board  has proposed to construct  tenements for the Tsunami affected families at Okkium Thuraipakkam in Kancheepuram  District. IL & FS took the Environmental Impact and Social Assessment study for the above project and submitted the final report.

Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board endorse the IL & FS final report

subject to the following conditions:

1. Host Community Development:

(i) Improvement to Roads :

Provisions are given in the proposal for improvements of internal roads in the adjoining residential areas..

(ii) Improvement  to Surface Drains:

Provisions are given in the proposal for improvement of natural drainage canals running on the North side of the site. Provisions are also made for integration of the proposed drains with the existing natural drains around the site to provide  flow to the Buckingham canal.

(iii)  Improvement  to Water Supply:

    The local body will provide water supply to the adjoining areas.
